About Me
Hello!
My name is Maddy. I work as a doctor in one of the busiest Emergency Departments in New South Wales. For the last ten years, I have studied, worked and trained in public hospitals across New South Wales and Queensland, Australia. I have met hundreds of people, all with a unique journey and experience of the healthcare system. Through my work, I have been exposed to the shortcomings, failings and challenges of a system that is beyond stretched. It is as frustrating to work in this chaotic and complicated organisation as it is to be a patient.
I have a lot of thoughts, many of which I have documented over the years in the form of essays, short stories and journal entries.
In sharing these musings, I hope to not only contribute to the voices of healthcare staff that are advocating for positive change, but also voice the challenges of working as a junior doctor and in doing so, help those that feel isolated by this challenging career to feel less alone.
